Morton & Gettys again honored in Best Law Firms in America

Morton & Gettys’ work in the practice area of trust and estates is being recognized again in Best Law Firms in America, the third consecutive year the Rock Hill law firm has been honored.

The national directory, a joint project of Best Lawyers in America and U.S. News and World Report, lists Morton & Gettys in Tier 2 in Trusts & Estates Law. Inclusion in the guide indicates a unique combination of quality law practice and breadth of legal knowledge, Best Law Firms says.

“We are pleased to again be recognized in a national publication,” firm co-founder John Gettys said. “It is always nice to receive awards, but it is even more gratifying when they are based on the opinions of colleagues and clients.”

To qualify for Best Law Firms, one of the firm’s attorneys must be included in the peer-reviewed Best Lawyers in America. At Morton & Gettys, senior counsel Joe Raad was honored in trusts and estates law in the 2019 edition. A South Carolina Supreme Court Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law, Raad is a five-time recipient of Best Lawyers in America honors.

The estate planning team at Morton & Gettys, which includes Gettys as well as Raad, assists clients of all wealth levels with a wide range of matters, from simple wills to creating trusts and business succession plans for complex estates. The attorneys also serve as trust administrators and personal representatives.

Gettys and Joshua Vann, both partners, also were honored in Best Lawyers in the practice area of real estate law. The 2019 edition marked the second time Best Lawyers in America has recognized Gettys and Vann.
