Dan Ballou becomes a partner

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Attorney Daniel J. Ballou has been promoted to partner at Morton & Gettys, as of Jan. 1.

Also named partner was Melissa Cassell.

“To have such a good lawyer, and friend, join our firm a few years ago to establish and build a civil litigation practice has made a world of difference in our ability to meet the needs of the people of Rock Hill,” said John Gettys, a founding partner of the firm. “This new practice area for us now boasts four attorneys who strive to protect the interests of our clients.”

Ballou received his bachelor’s degree in history from Princeton University in 1987, and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1991. He is a seasoned civil litigator with experience at all levels of federal and state courts in South Carolina.

He represents clients in hearings and trials in the court system as well as before local councils, agencies and commissions. He also helps companies interested in building or expanding in the Central Upstate obtain the approvals they need to move their projects forward. He has worked with clients on a variety of land use and zoning matters, as well as assisted businesses seeking economic development incentives from state and local government.

Dan is active in the community as well. His volunteer work in York County reaches across a broad spectrum of organizations, from the United Way of York County to the Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation. He also is a member of the Liberty Fellowship Class of 2012.
