Elizabeth Smith Owen confirmed as member of York County Natural Gas Authority Board

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Elizabeth Smith Owen, a partner at Morton & Gettys, is the newest member of the York County Natural Gas Authority Board.

Owen will serve a three-year term. The South Carolina State Senate confirmed her appointment in April.

The York County Natural Gas Authority, established in 1954, is a not-for-profit corporation governed by a 10-member board. Operating in York and northeast Cherokee County, the authority provides industrial, commercial and residential gas service to more than 58,000 customers. The authority also operates a showroom at 965 W Main Street in Rock Hill, where customers can learn about the advantages of natural gas appliances and take a look at the latest models.

Owen has served in previous community and government positions, including part-time municipal judge for the City of York for five years. She’s also a past president of the York County Bar Association, as well as a volunteer with several youth and family-oriented organizations.

Owen’s practice at Morton & Gettys includes family law cases such as divorce, child custody, adoption and child support. She also practices education law, counseling school districts on topics ranging from general liability to social media issues. She represents clients in other matters such as personal injury cases as well.
