Smith discusses collaborative law on WRHI talk show

Morton & Gettys partner Michael Smith was a guest on WRHI’s “Close Up” recently to talk about collaborative divorce, an innovative approach to family law he’s working to bring to the Rock Hill community.

Collaborative divorce involves a team of professionals working to help guide parties toward solutions, rather than engaging in costly litigation. The concept isn’t limited to divorce, either, but can be applied to any area of family law, including custody. Couples who have never been married or who have long been divorced also can take advantage of a collaborative process. The team typically includes attorneys as well as a financial expert, therapist and child specialist.

Smith, who also is a certified family law mediator, is incorporating collaborative law into his practice for clients who are interested.
