John Gettys honored in inaugural edition of “Best of York County”
A long-time leader at our law firm and in the community, our co-founder John Gettys is leading the way again. He has earned honors in the first-ever edition of “Best of York County.”
His selection came after Post and Courier readers cast more than 30,000 votes. It honors his work as an estate planning attorney.
The recognition reflects not only the high quality of John’s work, but that of the entire Morton & Gettys Estate Planning and Probate Team. These skilled, experienced attorneys help York County clients protect their financial futures and those of their families. Morton & Gettys estate planning lawyers offer a full array of services, including asset management and business succession planning, powers of attorney, and guardianship and conservatorship matters.
One of the co-founders of Morton & Gettys and our managing partner, John has spent decades helping clients write Last Wills and Testaments that help ensure their wishes are carried out. He also counsels personal representatives, heirs, trustees, and beneficiaries in disputes or issues involving interpretation of trusts.
An experienced probate attorney, John assists families through the entire process, from opening estates to final reconciliation. He has the litigation skills to represent clients in court if necessary. Additionally, he serves as a personal representative for families who want a neutral party in that role.
His practice also includes real estate law. He regularly assists homeowners with residential real estate closing on purchases, refinances, and home equity lines of credit.
John’s peers have honored him many times for his skills. This includes his AV Preeminent rating for the highest level of professional excellence by Martindale-Hubbell and honors in the peer-reviewed Best Lawyers in America for his work in Trusts and Estates, Real Estate Law, and Trust and Estates Litigation.
John is as dedicated to the Rock Hill community as he is to his clients. He has served as mayor since 2017, in addition to his previous work as chairman of the Rock Hill Sports Commission and his former service on the city council.
