Gettys joins South State Bank Advisory Board

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – John Gettys, a founding member of Morton & Gettys, now is a member of the advisory board of South State Bank.

Advisory board members are selected based on civic and community knowledge and involvement. South State Bank turns to the board for insight on the needs of the York County business community and for help in identifying better ways to meet those needs.

Gettys, who served eight years as a Rock Hill City councilman, has a history of deep involvement in the community. He’s served on the Early Learning Partnership Board of Directors since 2010, including a term as president. He’s been a member of the City of Rock Hill Sports Commission since 2012. As chairman of the group, he played a pivotal role in working to bring the 2017 BMX World Championship to the city.

Gettys co-founded Morton & Gettys in 2001 as a two-person firm with James M. Morton. The law office has grown to 10 attorneys licensed to practice in North Carolina, Florida and Georgia as well as South Carolina.

Gettys is a graduate of Erskine College and the University of South Carolina, where he earned both a Master of Public Administration and a juris doctor degree. His legal practice focuses on personal injury, residential real estate and estate planning.
