Elizabeth Smith Owen named to next Liberty Fellows class

Elizabeth Smith Owen, a partner with Morton & Gettys law firm in Rock Hill, S.C., is one of 21 leaders from across the state who have been chosen for Liberty Fellowship’s 14th class. They will be joining the broader network of 290 Liberty Fellows working collaboratively as an engine of change for South Carolina.

“Adding new perspectives and expertise to the Liberty Fellowship network amplifies the Fellows’ efforts to find creative solutions to issues facing South Carolinians,” said Luanne Runge, President & CEO of Liberty Fellowship. “Each of these new fellows has a unique role in this network and helps us leverage our differences for the good of South Carolina.”

“Elizabeth has long been an asset to York County, and this well-deserved opportunity will give her the chance to do even more for all of South Carolina,” said Morton & Gettys partner John Gettys. “The Liberty Fellowship program has chosen well, as her classmates will soon discover.”

Owen’s practice focuses primarily in family law and education law. She is an experienced family lawyer, skilled at representing clients in issues such as divorce, child custody, child support, alimony and spousal support, visitation, adoption, and prenuptial agreements. Her education law practice includes counseling school districts on topics ranging from social media issues and legal compliance to general liability.
