ROCK HILL, S.C. – The law firm Morton & Gettys, LLC, has acquired Metrolina Business Services, Inc., a professional registered agent company.

Metrolina serves as a registered agent for more than 60 companies doing business in South Carolina. State law requires that companies operating within the state register with the S.C. Secretary of State and designate an agent with a physical presence in the state for service of process.

Businesses failing to take these steps can lose certain legal rights, such as the ability to bring a lawsuit within the state.

The registered agent can also act as a permanent place of business within the state for businesses that lack a bricks-and-mortar presence in South Carolina.
