Owen updates principals on legal issues

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Morton & Gettys partner Elizabeth Smith Owen provided a group of school principals with a legal update as part of an on-going professional development and networking program for education leaders associated with the Olde English Consortium.

Owen’s presentation was part of a series of monthly meetings sponsored by the Olde English Consortium, a nonprofit education collaborative serving northcentral South Carolina. In addition to networking opportunities, the programs also allow principals to earn certificate renewal credits.

Other luncheon speakers this year have included state education and political leaders.

An education lawyer by profession, Owen also has a passionate personal interest in education. She’s active in education-oriented organizations in the community, including serving on the board for the Early Learning Partnership of York County and the York County Community Foundation.

In addition to education law, Owen’s practice at Morton & Gettys focuses on family law and personal injury. She has a history of public and government service and is a former part-time municipal judge for the City of York.
