Best Lawyers in America is widely viewed as among the leading peer-reviewed publications for the legal profession. The highly selective process of creating each edition begins when an attorney is nominated by a fellow lawyer. Ballots then are distributed to attorneys in the same practice area and geographic region. The goal is capture a consensus of opinion of leading lawyers about their colleagues’ abilities, Best Lawyers says.

Raad, who joined Morton & Gettys in 2014, has worked as an estate planning lawyer for more than 30 years. He can assist clients with wills, family trust formation and medical and financial powers of attorney. He also can act as a personal representative for estates and as a trustee for various size trusts. Additionally, he works with clients in corporate law, including business succession planning, and with families to make sure their special-needs heirs are taken care of.

As part of his probate practice, Raad has handled multi-million dollar estates from beginning to end. He also has advised clients on techniques for avoiding probate, including use of trusts and property ownership planned. He has worked with probate cases involving assets in multiple counties or multiple states.

He is a long-time member of the South Carolina Bar Estate Planning and Probate Law Section. Raad also is a past member of the South Carolina Bar Estate Planning and Probate Law Certification Board, the panel that sets standards for earning the specialist designation.
