A graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, Joe’s practice at Morton & Gettys focuses on civil litigation.

Joe’s interest in litigation developed during law school, when he was extensively involved in mock trial programs. He served as chief justice for the University of South Carolina School of Law Mock Trial Bar and manager for the Black Law Student’s Association Mock Trial Team during his third year. He was also a finalist in the prestigious Buffalo Niagara Mock Trial Invitational.

He further honed his legal skills by serving as a summer associate with three law firms, where his duties included legal research, drafting motions, memoranda and other documents, and helping prepare witnesses for deposition.

A South Carolina native, Joe earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology at the University of South Carolina. He graduated magna cum laude.

Outside of work, Joe enjoys spending time with his daughter Jyia, cooking and cheering on his Gamecocks.
